A Short Story

I have an obsession with shorts. They’re my ultimate favourite item of clothing. I can wear shorts all year around and for any occasion. I have a gazillion pairs and that doesn't stop me from buying more, much to my boyfriend’s dismay (he once told me that he secretly wants to burn them all). They’re just my thing.

Different people suit different shorts. I wear mine fairly short and try to avoid a high waist, although recently I've started to change my ways. So I thought with the sun shining down on us (sorry if I jinxed anything!) and summer fast approaching, I’d update you on some of my favourite shorts from my closet.

Denim: Everyone must have a pair of denim shorts, it’s the law! In my world they’re an essential, a classic, which can be dressed up or down. I always make sure I have a pair with a low rise and a turned up bottom to wear on holiday or with a white shirt. At the moment mine are from the Abercrombie and Fitch. I also have a bleached pair with a high waist from Topshop. Topshop have a wide variety but to be honest denim shorts are stocked at most high street stores, all year round.

Shorts: Abercrombie and Fitch
Shirt: Abercrombie and Fitch

Lace: You won’t think they suit you until you try them on! Trust me! I found mine in Zara in cream years ago and I’ve been addicted to them ever since. Slightly on the short side, they’re comfortable and conceal a bloated belly very well. Can be worn up or down, with so many different cute tops. My sister recently found them in Zara again in black, so get looking!
Sandals: ASOS
Top: Topshop
Shorts: Zara
Leather: Its daring, I know. But once you’ve worn them, you won’t stop. You can get them short and tight, in the form of mini culottes, as a skort, the opportunities are endless. Mine were a bargain from a Miss Selfridge sale, going back years ago. Leather shorts sound cheap, but worn the right way can look edgy and different.

Shoes: New Look
Mini Culottes: Miss Selfridge
Top: Topshop

Skort: They’re everywhere. MissGuided, Zara and Asos have the best variety. I bagged mine from Missguided last year in a deep burgundy, but I do think they look best in white or leather. Match them with a crop top or a strappy top for the evening or a tight jumper and loafers for the day.
Heeled Sandals: Zara
Skort: MissGuided
Crop Top: Topshop
Print: I love a good print. It instantly changes an outfit and makes it more interesting. I have a few beautiful pairs from Topshop. I find it difficult to find a print I love straight away because if it’s not done the right way, it can look tacky, which is always a look you want to avoid. I also have a beautiful pair from Thailand (shown below) which I hunted down in a boutique. They’re the ones which always catch people’s eyes.
Close up cause I love them so much

Like I said I have so many shorts, so look out for more short posts!  Hopefully you've all been inspired. So get your legs out girls!
