Coachella dreamer, Wireless attender

Summer is approaching (kind of) and a festival post just seemed fitting. So here is our festival experience to date!

Jaskirans first festival - Reading.
Describe it in one word, surreal. I was 17 years old, determined to go to Reading with my friend and we opted for the day. Even though that was only six years ago (eek I feel old!) I remember comfort was on my mind and not fashion. Entering new territory I didn’t want to attend to be noticed but to see why it was loved by so many. Off I went with my wellies, skinny jeans and hoody. Yes I know, boring! However my arms were adorned with my homemade bracelets and my hair was a wispy mess, so not a total mess.

Wireless Mania 2012! Attended by us both and other unruly people
Thanks to the rain and the fancy location (Hyde Park), our outfit choices did not go exactly pan out, but this is England…so we adjusted. Skinny jeans, wellies, leather jacket, black crop top and an Alexander McQueen scarf was the outfit of choice for Jaskiran. Add some ray ban-esque sunnies, a bright orange bag and a load of Jager we were officially in love with wireless.

Simmy opted for black skinny jeans, white t-shirt and denim shirt on top with a bright orange bag (trust us the bag twinning was not planned) and a leather jacket. The outfit was warm and cosy but the only fail was wearing WHITE converses (drop head down in shame) they were ruined by the end of the day and are now the trainers used to help in the garden.

Heatwave for Wireless 2013!
Last year, with highs of 25 degrees we arrived at Wireless prepared. Jaskiran wore high waisted bleached out denim shorts, cropped white tee, vans, leather backpack, bracelets (as usual) and body paint (why not!).

Simmy wore denim shorts, NEW pair of converses and a black silk top…oh how different a festival is in the sunshine! This was an amazing experience. With a line up of Jay-z, Justin Timberlake and a surprise guest which turned out to be RIHANNA and a bundle of other acts, this was the best festival to date. Everyone looked as if they were having a blast.

Next year, our sights have been set on Coachella. The epitome of festivals thanks to the hippy fashion and edgy risks, which are not just taken on by celebrities anymore. After this year, our few favourites have included:

Hippy Queen: Vanessa Hudgens
How does she do it? Bindis, mirror embellished crops, insane hair and even a tambourine. She makes Esmeralda look boring! The tye dyed maxis, rose garlands and crazy body jewellery seem to get better and better. The chain coming down her thigh, ear cuffs and jewelled stickers make me envious.  The fact that she’s pint sized like me only makes me love her even more. So how can you get this look?

·        Circled sunnies a la John Lennon

·        Crazy hair pieces from Rock and Rose

·        Bindis and body stickers from ebay or indian shops

·        Crop tops from Etsy for something a little less popular

·        Kimonos

Double Trouble: Kendall Jenner and Kylie Jenner
Taking a storm at Coachella this year, these two sisters decided to make it known that they were here and to be taken as serious contenders in the fashion stakes. My favourite outfit of Coachella was donned by Kendall on the opening weekend of Coachella, Day 1. It was a subtle outfit made up of cowboy boots, denim shorts and a cute printed crop. But the jewellery was stunning, a silver metal belt with turquoise encrusted stones and a gorgeous necklace to match. Add an open floor length white cardigan and I’m pretty much in love.

Kylie was more rock and roll throughout the weekend with a hint of goth. Black studded fanny packs, boots, denim cut off and loose band tanks made her appear comfortable and chic. The black gothic outfit she put together on day 2 was gorgeous. Very different to the usual Coachella attire, Kylie put together an outfit that would have made Morticia jealous.

How to get this look?

·        Portabella market for unusual cute jewellery

·        Camden for band tees

·        Flat Chelsea boots from ASOS

·        Leather fanny packs, Urban outfitters

·        Shorts from anywhere, studs from Ebay, DIY

Clean cut and Simple: Kate Bosworth
You don’t have to be loud and always wear crazy outfits to get noticed. Kate Bosworth is a perfect example of this. Simple tees and well cut shorts, she always looks well-tailored and yet carries it of as if she just threw it all on. Obsessed with her surf hair and collection of shorts, she is definitely a Coachella icon.
·        Coloured denim shorts, preferably white

·        Cute tees, Tommy Hilfiger

·        Subtle accessories

·        Flat shoes

·        Aviators

Bank is an amazing one stop shop for festival fashion, take a look for yourself.

So there you have it! Sights set on Coachella and outfits already in progress! Bring on a Summer of festivals and 2015!

  1. Absolutley love love love! Especially the Kate Bosworth outfit, it's almost easier to go dressed loud & crazy to festivals, so seeing how to do "simple" well is a nice change!

    Thanks for the summer tips!
